Baby is the size of a butternut squash, weighs somewhere in the 4-6 lb range, and is urinating up to a pint a day. The above picture cracks me up a little. It looks like I am literally about to tip over forwards. No wonder my back hurts.
How I’m feeling: Meh. Fine I guess. And large. And hot. Hot in a literal sense, not like Oh, I look so hot. In fact, I had to turn on the A/C on Sunday when I was sweating sitting still in the house. If you know me, you know this is not normal. Steve usually calls me the A/C nazi because I hate air conditioning and normally refuse to turn it on until it is at least 88 degrees inside. Not anymore, I tell ya. I have been sitting inside drinking ice water from an insulated cup. My favorite things to eat still include anything with a high water content. Watermelon, celery, cucumbers, all fruit really, popsicles, etc. I discovered a jug of blueberry lemonade at the store the other day and have been enjoying that mixed with seltzer for some fizz over ice. In my insulated cup. Sleep – well, some nights I do and some nights I don’t. I don’t know what it is. Saturday I woke up for the day at 4:26 and Sunday I slept in until 7:05 (glorious!). My hands are still killing me after I work, but it is what it is. I have been sleeping with my right wrist in a brace that I borrowed from my cousin and it has actually been helping my carpal tunnel. My hand is not going numb quite as often, which is always a good thing in my book.
Enough about all of that. Saturday was my baby shower at my aunt’s house and I couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful day. The weather was beautiful so we did everything outside.
My mom made up these posters with all of my weekly photos, which was so cute:
I was a little bit floored by all of the awesome gifts. So many adorable things! We were given some big ticket items such as a carseat and the mother of all mothers:
Oh yes. I am so freaking excited about this stroller, you guys. It is so smooth and maneuvers like a dream (around the deck that is). I cannot wait to go for walks with it and eventually runs with my little guy. I may take it out for a test walk through the neighborhood before he comes, don’t put it past me.
So yeah. Beyond lucky and grateful for my super-generous family and friends. Right now it looks like a baby store exploded in our living room.
And now, a little nursery update. This should probably be it’s own post eventually, but I am lazy so I will put it here. Last week I decided to tackle the intimidating project of applying the wall decals I ordered from Etsy. I was very nervous about every aspect of the project, including placing the decals in the correct spots, making sure they were level, and then of course actually adhering them to the wall. Steve helped with the first one (the K) since he has done decals on vehicles in the past, and once I saw how it was done I felt a little better. Once I got going, I would say the whole thing probably took 4-5 hours or so, and really wasn’t that hard. I started one night and finished the next morning. I really could not be any happier with how they turned out. Excuse the poor lighting in this photo and try to tell me it is not the cutest thing you have ever seen.
Yes, his name starts with a K and that’s the only clue that will be given ;) Eventually the decal with his whole name will be up there but I am saving it for the end in case we have any curious visitors over the next few weeks. So the first night I did the K and the waves. I drew a pencil line on the wall with a level to make sure the waves would be straight across. I also drew level lines for the K, the hook, and some of the bigger pieces that I thought would look weird If they were crooked. Everything else I just king of placed on where I thought it would look good. I didn’t stray too much from the sample picture on Etsy because I am not that creative and I liked how it looked on there. The kid better love this ocean scene because I am not taking it down probably ever.
Steve also got around to installing the drawer pulls on the dresser, and I am in love with those as well.
Orange boat cleats, also found on Etsy.
I never thought I would have this much fun decorating the nursery, and when it is all done it is sure to be my favorite room in the house. All of baby boy’s clothes, sheets, blankets, towels, and diapers are washed and ready to go, and I am confident that I will finish organizing everything over the next week or so. Only 6 weeks to go!!
